If
If I stood naked before you
Would you kneel and call me beautiful
Utter blessings in your heart
And not curse the rejoicing of your loins?
If we lay naked together
Would you let me make a pillow of your chest
As I best all conversation with the flittings
Of a sage sprig, a rosemary branch,
Rose-hip, juniper?
If I sat crumpled over
Would you let mercy lead you
Could you give consolation reign,
Overlook your own fear
Tending to another's pain?
Let it be plain: Those who truly share,
Share joy and suffering.
